The School of Nursing at Stony Brook University invites/seeks applications for a 0.6 - 1.0 faculty position to teach in the Graduate program. Recent practice experience in Primary Care is preferred to enhance curriculum in the Pediatric Primary Care and Family Nurse Practitioner programs. Precepting nurse practitioner students and/or teaching experience in Graduate NP curriculum preferred.
As a Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor you are expected to contribute to the educational, research, clinical and community service mission of the School of Nursing. The school of nursing clinical faculty are leaders in the implementation of student-centered teaching and learning strategies for the development of strong clinical reasoning skills in graduates.
All candidates should be prepared to pursue the Scholarship of Teaching in the development of critically reflective knowledge about teaching and learning. Such an approach emphasizes the development, testing, and dissemination of advances in pedagogy. Candidates at the Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor level are also expected to contribute to the tripartate mission of a major research intensive university by contributing to the research and/or practice/service mission of the university.
All candidates should be prepared to mentor students as future nurse leaders, be committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, and foster collaborative interdisciplinary learning experiences that expand student understanding of patient-centered care.
• Doctoral Degree (Earned or In Progress).
• PNP-BC or FNP-BC Certification.
• Valid NY State Professional Nurse License.
• Primary Care Experience.
• Dual Certification Preferred.
• Demonstrated Teaching Experience.
• Experience Precepting Nurse Practitioner Students.
