Associate Director for Mentoring & Diversity Initiatives
The Associate Director for Mentoring & Diversity Initiatives with the Center for Career Excellence reports to the Director, and works with Career Excellence colleagues, University Advancement, and other key University partners to significantly expand and enhance the current Career Mentoring Program as part of the Center’s strategy to provide students networking and skill-building opportunities to improve their career readiness. The Associate Director manages a robust program that links students with the Laurentian Network to build connections, develop competencies, explore careers and industries, hone professional etiquette, and learn how to articulate their St. Lawrence experience to employers and graduate programs. The Associate Director creates a comprehensive training program for students and mentors, designs a curriculum and supporting resources that are developmentally appropriate for students of each class year, provides bi-monthly group meetings for mentors and students, and strategically builds diversity and inclusion attributes into the Career Mentoring Program. To ensure the Center is meeting the needs of all students, the Associate Director also collaborates with Career Excellence colleagues, the Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion, Coordinator of Retention and Academic Support, and International Student Services to create programming for diverse student populations including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, First Generation, and International students. The Associate Director teaches in the Career Classes as appropriate.
