Summary

Baylor College of Medicine, CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial, located in Lufkin, Texas. Staff Physician, Internal Medicine. Primarily responsible for providing preventative medical care and treatment of common adult medical problems, with an emphasis on caring for the whole patient at CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial. Provides general health assessments as well as consultation for complex medical problems. Day-to-day responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Responsible for subacute and chronic management of patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Responsible for preventive care of patients, including regular exams and blood work in an outpatient setting.
  • Screens and diagnoses a wide range of illnesses and injuries in adult population according to their age.
  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses and diagnostic images for each patient individualized to their conditions.
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination and diagnoses condition of patient.
  • Refers patients to medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient’s well-being.
  • Consolidates and interprets information from different specialists and designing an adequate plan of treatment.
  • Determines and prescribes medication, dosage and schedule given the patient’s condition and allergies.
  • Discusses potential side effects of medications and treatments with patients including potential allergies during the treatment.
  • Reviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, medications and immunization status.
  • Keeps patients' medical records up to date including the most recent treatment plan.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary.
  • Educates and advises patients regarding lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.
  • Maintains clear communication between patient and medical staff regarding timely interventions to prevent complications of current conditions.
  • Adheres to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.


Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a medical degree (MD) in Medicine. Must have completed a 3-year residency in the area of Internal Medicine. Must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
