Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to work as a key member of the research study team with the primary responsibility for oversight of collection, organization, management and analysis of research data in the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics in many studies funded by NIH, AHRQ and CDC.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Use advanced knowledge base to provide oversight for the collection and management of clinical research data and research data analysis.

  1. Design and maintain data files
  2. Design and create study specific databases
  3. Oversee and collaborate in development of study tools including data collection forms
  4. Maintain detailed knowledge of team protocols. Work on research studies that require data management, data coordination, and data abstraction.
  5. Assist the principal investigator and study team members to define design and create data collection forms as needed.
  6. Conduct basic statistical analysis for studies with various research design.Work closely with research collaborators to process and analyze data, help in the preparation of manuscripts for publication, and help with preparation of presentations and progress reports
  7. Work with program manager to ensure integrity, accuracy and security of data.
  8. Support the design and production of quality tables and graphs for scientific presentations using graphic software.
  9. Make suggestions or provide solutions to problems related to data management and statistical analyses
  10. Help develop grant proposals, project reports and manuscripts for publication.
  11. Complete other data-related duties based on project needs

Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in related discipline. 3 years related experience. Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree in public health or closely related field.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid planning and organizational skills, ability to prioritize work independently.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
