Position Summary 

As outlined in the program operating grant, the Office Manager/Rigorous Curriculum Coordinator (OM/RCC) ensures that all applications and contact data are entered accurately into the TRIO Talent Search database for federal reporting and that advisors are supported in the field while serving program participants.  Additionally, the OM/RCC helps keep the office running smoothly, updates the website and social media, and helps plan and run program events.  The OM/RCC travels, on average, once weekly to schools to serve students and families directly to ensure that program participants select and succeed in college-preparatory coursework. Finally, the OM/RCC reviews transcripts twice annually of all program participants to identify areas of student success and struggle to help program advisors best help students to achieve their goals of college success. This position requires weekly travel to target area schools, as needed, as well as work on the Fort Lewis College campus.  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree  
  • Reliable personal transportation; ability to travel to target schools up to four days a week; work some evenings, and participate in overnight student college field trips  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass driving background check requirements  
  • Demonstrated commitment to and sensitivity for addressing the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged youth and adults  
  • Minimum one year of experience advising students in academics, career exploration, personal development, leadership, financial aid, and/or college/ vocational school admissions  
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities  
  • Minimum one year of experience working with secondary (grades 6-12) students in a volunteer or professional capacity  
  • Demonstrated experience providing presentations and/or workshops on financial aid, college admissions, leadership and career development, and organizational skills for students and families  
  • Demonstrated experience working and/or collaborating with secondary and post-secondary schools, community-based programs, or service learning programs (teaching, coaching, counselor, outdoor education. etc.)  
  • Excellent writing and communication skills  
  • Strong technology skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Zoom  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with TRIO or other educational opportunity programs as a participant or employee.  
  • Fluency in Spanish or an Indigenous language of the Four Corners Region  
  • Experience planning and leading field trips with secondary students  
  • Familiarity with Fort Lewis College and/or Four Corners area.   

 

 

Office Manager Responsibilities 

  • Monthly data entry

  • Staff support  

  

Rigorous Curriculum Coordinator Responsibilities:  

  • Reviewing transcripts  
  • Communicating with students, families, school personnel on RC curriculum requirements/progress  
  • Academic advising, especially for concurrent and AP coursework  
  • Monitoring participant progress  
  • Maintaining student/parent contact records  
  • Tutoring referral and establishment of FLCTS tutoring services, especially as related to concurrent and AP coursework.  

  

Other General Responsibilities   

  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities  
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.  
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation  

Salary is $32,032 for this position plus a comprehensive benefits package
