Job Description

Northern Arizona University's Cline Library seeks a creative, collaborative, and collegial Assistant Librarian.

As primary liaison to the College of Arts and Letters and the Honors College, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, delivery, and assessment of instruction, services, and programming that contribute to student success and research excellence at NAU.

The librarian will collaborate with faculty and library colleagues to make decisions about the physical and online collections important to the colleges and on open educational resources and digital humanities efforts. NAU will soon begin transitioning to a new General Education program, providing an unprecedented opportunity to collaborate with faculty to more fully integrate information literacy into the curriculum.

The librarian will collaborate with the colleges on programs such as the College of Arts and Letters Film Series, the Grand Canyon Semester, and author events. The librarian will build on the colleges' strong connections with the library's Special Collections and Archives and the potential to increase their connections with the library's Experiential Learning program, which offers a MakerLab, virtual reality, augmented reality and more. The librarian will also work with the Community Engagement Librarian to increase community engagement via programming that supports NAU's recently earned status as a Hispanic-Serving Institution.

This can include assistance on search strategies, information retrieval, alert services, and citation management for researchers conducting literature reviews and developing grants.
  • Work with library colleagues and university stakeholders to design information literacy assignments, assessments, and activities in support of the General Education program.
  • Direct and manage workload to support team, organizational, and institutional strategic goals. Assist with program reviews, grants, and related work.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of programs, and implement change when needed.
  • Be able to identify and demonstrate the library's value to stakeholders and to increase stakeholder awareness of resources and services.
  • Identify and pursue professional development and service opportunities that reflect a commitment to learning, innovation, and excellence in higher education and libraries.
