Leading at Our Campus:

Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette is located in Tippecanoe County (pop. 196,000), within the Greater Lafayette area, which is one of the fastest growing communities in the Midwest, located between Chicago and Indianapolis. Ivy Tech Lafayette serves the counties of Tippecanoe, White, Carroll, Clinton, Montgomery, Fountain, Warren, and Benton. Developed through strong local community partnerships, instructional sites are located in Crawfordsville, Frankfort and Monticello. The campus service 38 school corporations and the Greater Lafayette Career Academy. The main campus in Lafayette includes academic, student success and administrative facilities, as well as a working farm, an energy technology building, and an apprentice training facility for local trade unions.

 

The primary economic sectors in the Lafayette campus service area include manufacturing, education, health care, social services, agriculture, and retail. The area has a solid base of industry including SIA, Wabash National, Tate & Lyle, Arconic, GE Aviation, Saab, Frito-Lay, NuCor Steel, Indiana Packers, Evonik, as well multiple small businesses and four hospitals. Agricultural businesses and partnerships include ConAgra and the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network. Ivy Tech Lafayette works collaboratively with local leaders to attract and retain businesses in the communities it serves.

 

In response to the diverse needs of the region, Ivy Tech Lafayette has developed a significant focus on Agriculture, Energy, Health, Advanced Manufacturing, Public Services, Information Technology, Business, and Pre-Engineering programs. Many of these programs are closely linked to Purdue University and provide a pathway for Ivy Tech graduates to continue their education. Dual credit education arrangements with local high schools provide both on and off-campus classes that provide college and high school credit.

Business, industry, government, and education work together to make the Greater Lafayette area a thriving community, of which the college is proud to be a part of. The Lafayette community is host to a thriving downtown with restaurants, entertainment, shopping, and the arts. Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, provides diverse cultural offerings and Big 10 sports. Located next to the Lafayette campus, is a joint use facility that was created in partnership with Ivy Tech Lafayette, the Lafayette Family YMCA, Franciscan Alliance, and Junior Achievement.

 

Ivy Tech students in particular benefit from having child care and recreational services nearby. The campus is a member of Greater Lafayette Commerce, that bring together industries, businesses, governments, education and quality of life groups together to guide economic success and quality of life. General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Chancellor is the senior administrator for all campus services and is responsible for the management and oversight of the day-to-day campus operations while fostering a campus climate that is consistent with the College's core values. Focused on increasing enrollment, student success, retention, credential completions, transfer success, and career placement the Chancellor consults with Systems Office and campus Cabinet to: (1) achieve strategic plan mission, vision, goals and metrics; (2) build new and varied employer and community outreach and partnerships (3) ensure the availability of the College's instructional and student support services; (4) oversee fundraising for the campus, and (5) develop and lead a team to successfully implement strategies in order to meet the needs of a diverse community and student body on campus. Works closely with Vice President of Strategic Operations, campus support team and Systems Office. Reports directly to the President.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of substantial and successful leadership and management experience at the executive level.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, planning, evaluation, interpersonal and communication skills and have an ability and willingness to travel.
  • Must be adept at resolving individual and group conflicts, and must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to identify key issues and to carry forward an idea or project from conception to execution.
  • Track record of thinking conceptually and mastering complex subject matter quickly.
  • Good judgment, discretion, tact and the ability to work easily with senior leaders within the education, charitable, government, and business sectors.
  • Proven ability to partner well with colleagues both in and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

 

Preferred Qualifications:            

  • Doctorate
  • Three or more years of substantial and successful leadership and management experience at the executive level preferably in post-secondary education
  • Evidence of working with adult students' success
