PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Coordinator II, Emergency Services Center creates FIRE/EMS
Professions laboratories schedules and maintains communication with
faculty and staff regarding laboratory assignments; communicates
with appropriate campus staff to ensure effective operations.
Maintains inventory and quality assurance of FIRE/EMS lab items,
including chemicals, videos, software, models learning lab
materials, medical equipment, fire equipment, self- contained
breathing apparatus and FIRE/EMS apparatus.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Responsible for preparation of lab set-up with essential
equipment and supplies prior to the starting time for lab
- Maintain current budget status; Prepares requisitions for the
timely arrival of materials
- Maintain constant dialogue between faculty and labs; Analyze
and improve procedures and practices
- Develop and maintain equipment maintenance logs and equipment
usage logs for all FIRE and EMS equipment
- Ensure safe learning environment by directing and monitoring
laboratory safety protocols for all Fire and EMS programs, to
include EMS labs and Fire Field/Burn Building
- Maintain partnership with Cy Fair Volunteer Fire Department, in
use of building and fire field along with communication for shared
schedules and shared equipment
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as
- Knowledge and/or experience with EPA, OSHA, Texas Commission on
Fire Protection and Texas Department of State Health Services
- Must be familiar with safety regulations (EPA, OSHA)
- Must remain current with new technologies and safety
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of fire and EMS services
- Word processing, spreadsheet and database software skills
- Ability to work independently without close supervision
Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However,
there may be some walking; standing; bending; lifting/carrying of
more than 50 pound items; or driving an automobile. Ability to
climb ladders, lifts, scaffolding and building roofs as required.
Ability to move rapidly through lab rooms.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a
Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to
carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal
exposure to safety hazard
- Associate’s degree and at least 3 years of related work
experience, or an equivalent combination of education and
- HAZMAT OR EMT Basic certification
Hiring salary range is $43,070 - $49,531.
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted
full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall
in that range is determined by your related experience and
education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star
