Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Coordinator II, Emergency Services Center creates FIRE/EMS Professions laboratories schedules and maintains communication with faculty and staff regarding laboratory assignments; communicates with appropriate campus staff to ensure effective operations. Maintains inventory and quality assurance of FIRE/EMS lab items, including chemicals, videos, software, models learning lab materials, medical equipment, fire equipment, self- contained breathing apparatus and FIRE/EMS apparatus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for preparation of lab set-up with essential equipment and supplies prior to the starting time for lab
  2. Maintain current budget status; Prepares requisitions for the timely arrival of materials
  3. Maintain constant dialogue between faculty and labs; Analyze and improve procedures and practices
  4. Develop and maintain equipment maintenance logs and equipment usage logs for all FIRE and EMS equipment
  5. Ensure safe learning environment by directing and monitoring laboratory safety protocols for all Fire and EMS programs, to include EMS labs and Fire Field/Burn Building
  6. Maintain partnership with Cy Fair Volunteer Fire Department, in use of building and fire field along with communication for shared schedules and shared equipment
  7. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and/or experience with EPA, OSHA, Texas Commission on Fire Protection and Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Must be familiar with safety regulations (EPA, OSHA)
  • Must remain current with new technologies and safety regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of fire and EMS services
  • Word processing, spreadsheet and database software skills
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision




PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; lifting/carrying of more than 50 pound items; or driving an automobile. Ability to climb ladders, lifts, scaffolding and building roofs as required. Ability to move rapidly through lab rooms.



WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazard




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience




PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HAZMAT OR EMT Basic certification


Salary

Hiring salary range is $43,070 - $49,531.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
