JOB DESCRIPTION

The School of Occupational Therapy at the University of Indianapolis is seeking applications for a twelve-month full-time, tenure or non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Teaching responsibilities are distributed across three academic semesters. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience. Start date: August 2021.

The University of Indianapolis (UIndy) is a private university of higher education located on the south side of Indianapolis. Students are drawn from around the world to the University’s academically challenging undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs and its nationally ranked health science programs.

The mission of the Entry-Level Occupational Therapy programs within the School of Occupational Therapy is to develop caring and competent occupational therapy practitioners who are lifelong learners and leaders within local and global communities. Our students evolve into practitioners who link education, research, and practice as critical thinkers with the ability to apply evidence and uphold high standards of professionalism. The Entry-Level Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). The School of Occupational Therapy maintains an above-average first-time new graduate pass rate on the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Examination. Primary Responsibilities include implementing fieldwork education curricula for the Entry-Level OTD fieldwork program in collaboration with the School of Occupational Therapy and College of Health Sciences Experiential Education Teams. Additional responsibilities may include teaching within the entry-level OT programs, providing research/scholarly supervision (entry-level and/or post professional), academic advising, and providing service within the University and community.

Qualifications: An occupational therapist with an earned doctorate. Additional qualifications include: experience in scholarly activities, teaching, research advising, professional service, current certification with National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), and current or eligible for Indiana licensure (Indiana licensure must be active by start date). Knowledge of current occupational therapy theory and clinical practice required. Individuals interested in promoting and supporting inclusivity and equity in higher education and health care are encouraged to apply.
