Position Summary:

The Teaching Professor is a non-tenure track appointment that enables and recognizes a concentrated excellence in instruction. The individual in this position will contribute to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department's educational mission at the undergraduate and graduate levels through their instructional leadership, teaching excellence, and educational innovation in support primarily of our BS and MS degree programs. The position includes an emphasis on instructional leadership in support of degree and non-degree programs that prepare our students to meet the technological demands of our rapidly changing world.

Principal Duties:

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and contributing to curriculum updates and innovations; assessing pedagogical methods and student learning; providing academic advice and career guidance to students; fostering an environment that supports student success and is welcoming and inclusive to all; providing visionary leadership in support of degree and non-degree programs; participating in departmental, college, and university shared governance.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering with an emphasis on Machine Learning, Signal Processing, and Optimization focus required by the start of the appointment.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

The applicant must have five or more years of industry experience in the field of data science and two or more years of recent experience teaching machine learning and related courses to undergraduate and graduate students as well as academic student advising experience. Prior teaching record must include experience with active learning methods, both online and in-person instruction, curriculum development, and supervision of student teaching assistants. Evidence of outstanding teaching performance is also required. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and experience communicating data science concepts across disciplinary boundaries.
