Position Summary:
The Associate Research Specialist position will work with the Principal Investigator in Cancer Biology and Biomarkers in the UW Laboratory of Josh Lang, M.D. at the UW Carbone Cancer Center. One focus in the Lang lab includes mechanisms of targeted therapy resistance and circulating tumor cells. This research will focus on the development of liquid biopsy assays as well as pre-clinical models of targeted therapy resistance in breast cancer. The position requires the ability to work in a collaborative environment with other investigators on joint projects in this field. Involvement in these activities is expected to lead to scholarly work that will be published in scientific journals.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or other closely related biological science.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
- Previous experience in molecular biology methods and flow cytometry is desired but not required.
- Experience with microfluidic technologies and fluorescence microscopy, as well as a circulating tumor cell research background is strongly preferred.
- Experience with breast cancer is preferred.
- Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.
Additional Information:
This position will be appointed initially for 12 months. There is a possibility that the position will be extended for a total of two years or the position may convert to a renewable position if additional funding is secured.
- Work involves exposure to human blood products, animal blood products and tissue-
- Hepatitis B vaccination is strongly encouraged at the time of hire.
Work experience should demonstrate dependability, flexibility, and maturity.
