Statewide Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program

The State of New Jersey, Division of Highway Traffic Safety, provides federal grant funds to Kean University to administer the New Jersey Statewide Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program. The Statewide Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program has a primary goal of providing traffic safety training and outreach to support the reduction of traffic-related fatalities throughout the state.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean of the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology, the Project Director (Director IV) administers Kean University's participation in the Statewide Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program and its related program activities including, but not limited to: co-sponsorship of training courses; development of customized community campaigns (e.g., STOPS, Move Over Law); direct outreach to communities that are experiencing surges in specific types of crashes; and works with local schools to bring Traffic Safety Districts and Driver Education training to their communities. The Project Director also supervises and manages the personnel attached to the Project; administers financial operations of the Project; acts with the authority of the Associate Dean in their absence on Program related matters; and does related work as required. This position is grant funded and contingent upon the availability of supporting grant funds. Travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours will be required.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in the administration of law enforcement, traffic safety programs or a related field is required. A Master’s degree and five or more years of experience is preferred. E xperience with program development and implementation and an understanding of teaching pedagogy is also preferred. The selected candidate must have a valid Driver’s License in the State of New Jersey and a satisfactory driver’s history. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
