Position Summary:

This person instructs NS 132 Nutrition Today (fall, spring, summer semesters) and NS 332 Human Nutritional Needs (summer semesters only). NS 132 is a large enrollment introductory nutrition course for non-majors. It covers nutrition and its relationship to humans and their biological, social, and physical environment and factors that affect the nutritional status of various population groups. NS 132 has both in person and online sections in the fall and spring semesters and is taught online in summer semesters. NS 332 is an introductory nutrition course for BS Nutrition and Dietetics and BS Nutritional Sciences majors and is also a popular elective course for other students who are pursuing careers in health professions. NS 332 covers the biochemical and physiological basis of the nutritional requirements of humans and the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching the course online in summer semesters.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Minimum Master's degree in Nutritional Sciences or related major at the time of initial student instruction

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-At least one semester undergraduate collegiate instructional experience (e.g. lecture, TA, ....)
-At least one semester of online instruction preferred

Additional Information:

-Possesses current knowledge of human nutrition and ability to adjust lectures and instructional material that stays current with trends in food, nutrition and policy and delivers "real world" applications of nutrition
-Ability to engage and motivate students
-Ability to utilize best practices for online teaching and obtain online training resources
-Ability to work with faculty, instructors, and advisors to maintain the instructional consistency and quality of the department and provide students with an optimal educational experience
-Ability to provide an environment of respect, inclusivity, and trust for all and to utilize evidence-based strategies for creating inclusive instructional environments (in person, and online)
-Ability to notice and make adjustments if discrepancies in academic performance are discovered
