Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences is seeking an individual to fill the role of Meat Science Extension Program Manager, and exciting opportunity in our new Meat Science & Animal Biologics Discovery (MSABD) program, a state-of-the-art $57.1 million research, teaching, and outreach facility with program focus in meat science, food safety, and value-added molecules or materials derived from animal co-products.

This position will be responsible for providing assistance for Meat Sciences Extension programming needs and will be specifically involved with oversight and support of a variety of Extension programs including short courses, workshops, seminars, and other similar related activities. Primary duties will include coordinating and providing assistance for all aspects of a unique, high-impact, and highly regarded two-year meat science educational training program called the Master Meat Crafter (MMC) Training Program. Additional duties will include involvement and supporting a variety of other Extension programs and activities.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor degree required, preferably in animal sciences, food sciences, or related field

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Experience with and knowledge of coordinating/managing programs essential.
Familiarity with the Meat or Food Industries and the University of Wisconsin system a plus.
The successful candidate must possess:
* excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills
* strong interpersonal skills to work within a team environment
* the ability to work independently
* ability to manage budgets
Title prefix will be assigned at the time of hire based on candidate qualifications and relevant work experience.
