Position Summary:

The Northeast Family Medicine Clinic is interested in a Family Medicine physician to provide the full spectrum of family medicine skills, with maternity care (OB) preferred. This position will also be involved in teaching residents, medical students, and other learners.

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) is currently the sixth-ranked Academic Family Medicine Department in the United States. This department is a distinctly large, tier-one clinical department in the University of Wisconsin School Of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) based on size, scope, and complexity. The DFMCH and associated UW Health clinic operation has over 800 employees, including 172 faculty. An additional 253 clinical adjunct faculty are located throughout the state. The DFMCH trains over 150 residents and teaches over 500 medical students each year. Our physicians and residents practice at 17 clinics located throughout the state. The clinical practice is integral to the success of the department and UW Health due to the high volume of patients seen in our clinics with over 348,000 visits per year. The DFMCH has research funding from NIH, private industry and a wide variety of private foundations with funding exceeding $8 Million in FY2019. Research interests include addiction and substance misuse, prevention and treatment; infectious disease surveillance; systems-engineering approaches for improving ambulatory care; and practice-based research to improve health outcomes for the state of Wisconsin.

Principal Duties:

Duties will include provision of clinical care of patients, maternity care if applicable, and teaching/supervision of residents and other learners. Time is available for participation in scholarly work in the candidate's area(s) of interest. Participation in clinical faculty call schedule, OB call if applicable, family practice service schedule, nursing home visits, departmental meetings, and performing administrative duties as necessary in the position. This position may also have the opportunity to work on collaborative initiatives with other parts of UW SMPH & UW Health.

The preferred candidate will have fluency in a language other than English. This candidate will either have experience teaching and working with a diverse population, or will welcome a commitment to teaching and working with a diverse population.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Successful completion of a fully accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.

Candidates for associate professor (CHS) or full professor (CHS) rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.

License or Certificate:

Wisconsin medical licensure required prior to start date.
Certification by or eligible for certification by American Board of Family Medicine.
