Job Summary
The Department of Theatre at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia invites applications for a one-year position in theatre at the rank of Lecturer, beginning fall semester 2021.
Responsibilities
Primary teaching responsibilities include required courses in theatre history, performance, and critical studies for all department majors (BA, BS.Ed, and BFA). Based on the candidate’s resume, other potential teaching assignments include: Script Analysis, Devising Performance, Dramaturgy, World Drama, and related subjects. Other duties include participating in shared departmental administrative tasks, such as recruitment and academic advising; maintaining a record of excellence in teaching and creative endeavor; and providing ongoing service appropriate within the Department, College, and University.
Required Qualifications
Required qualifications include a MFA or PhD (preferred) in Theatre, a proven track record of successful teaching in the area of undergraduate theatre, strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative department. A successful candidate will be an experienced teacher, mentor, collaborator, and is expected to be an advocate for the liberal arts curriculum in the Bachelor of Arts area of study. Demonstrated success of innovative, inclusive, and interdisciplinary teaching and/or artistry is strongly desired, as is evidence of creative work with culturally diverse and LGBTQ+ populations.
