An Admission Counselor is responsible for representing Bard College to multiple constituencies, including prospective students and their families, Bard Alumni/ae, and school/community contacts. Reporting to the Director of Admission this counselor engages in recruiting initiatives and follow-up to meet application and enrollment goals. A counselor manages planning and follow-up of recruitment activities including high/secondary school visits, college fairs, prospective family and counselor receptions, and individual meetings and interviews for assigned geographic areas. Secondary responsibilities include new recruitment program development and implementation, and other duties as assigned. This is a full-time, 12-month per year, exempt position.

The territories of the International Admission Counselor include but are not limited to: Latin America, Canada, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and parts of SouthEast Asia. The international Admission Counselor should also coordinate travel and recruitment strategies with Bard’s East Asia Representative. The International Admission Counselor is not necessarily required to live near the Annandale campus but the position requires one year of training (one full admission cycle) on the Bard College campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.

Bard College’s main campus is in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., with 1,900 undergraduate students; the College also includes multiple graduate programs. The 1,000-acre campus sits along the Hudson River and offers the Fisher Performing Arts Center, and Hessel Museum of Art, and is the home of the Bard Prison Initiative, the largest college-degree-granting prison education program in the U.S. The Bard Network also includes several Bard High School Early Colleges across the country as well as international campuses and partnerships. The Bard Network is complex and demonstrates Bard’s priorities well in addition to the College’s emphasis on civic engagement.

Bard College is a private institution working in the public interest. Bard faculty and staff lead their students by example, building upon the existing network of boundary-breaking programs focused on rethinking who can and should be included in a liberal arts education.
