Position Announcement

Dixie State University seeks an Assistant General Counsel to perform legal work, with a transactional and business practice focus, in the Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”). This position directly reports to the General Counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and services to University clients regarding the University’s legal obligations and rights, particularly those relating to the University’s business services and transactions, to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Support OGC’s transactional practice by efficiently and pragmatically reviewing a high volume of the University’s legal agreements.
  • Independently review, revise, draft, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
  • Obtain and maintain certification, and serve as the University’s GRAMA Records Officer.
  • Conduct legal research to review and interpret laws, regulations and policies affecting the University.
  • Independently cultivate and manage client relationships with University stakeholders.
  • Participate on assigned University committees.
  • Exhibit DSU's values in all interactions as a representative of the University.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a practicing attorney, with demonstrated transactional experience.
  • Licensure to practice law in the State of Utah (concurrent private practice is precluded).
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and collegiality.
  • Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and good judgment, maintain confidentiality and balance competing deadlines.


Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $75,000+ depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of July 1, 2021.
