The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is looking for a Program Coordinator to develop, execute, and manage non-credit outreach programs for the Center for Professional Education. This position will be responsible for the developing, marketing, executing, and evaluation of a variety of non-credit professional and career development programs. The focus of this position will primarily be external to the university with the intent of extending university expertise and instructional resources into the community. The Program Coordinator will perform semi-routine duties, following existing practices established by the department. Considerable judgment and critical thinking is required in the approaches used for problem solving. Reporting to the director, this position has responsibility for the daily management and execution of a variety of non-credit outreach programs sponsored by the Continuing Education Office. The duties of this position include financial analysis of program performance, evaluation of program effectiveness, and continuous improvement of processes for delivery.

The Program Coordinator will develop, coordinate, execute, manage, and evaluate new and existing non-credit professional and career development/education programs; identify opportunities, based on market research and demonstrated demand, for non-credit training programs to be delivered by the Center for Professional Education; develop and monitor program budgets that meet program sustainability and revenue generation goals; develop appropriate strategies to engage, recruit, and enroll participants in non-credit professional development programs; provide follow-up reports on program performance, including programmatic evaluation, financial performance, and recommendations for continuous improvement of programs.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Organization, time management, planning, and reconciling programming.
  • Ability to assess need, prioritize opportunities, and apply resources to provide solutions.
  • Computer skills to perform tasks related to job function, e.g. spreadsheets, word processing, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and profit/loss assessment.
  • Ability to solve problems and apply critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks and program details.
  • Communication skills that reflect an ability to communicate with diverse populations.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic priorities based on need assessment.
  • Knowledge of adult education best practices and/or delivery methods.
  • Ability to assess effectiveness of training programs and measure outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications : A Bachelor’s degree; 1-2 years in an education environment. Education can be considered in lieu of experience.

Preferred Qualifications : Master’s Degree; 3-5 years in continuing education, extension, or outreach role.
