Physician – Emergency Department (United Hospital Center)

The Department of Emergency Medicine at West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine in Bridgeport, WV is currently seeking academic Emergency Medicine (EM) physicians at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. The WVU Department of Emergency Medicine offers a variety of practice locales and types across its diverse group of clinical sites.

Qualified applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or its foreign equivalent) and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The Department of Emergency Medicine at WVU maintains a thriving clinical practice — including WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital (690-bed, Level I trauma and tertiary-care referral center), United Hospital Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital, two WVU Urgent Care centers, WVU Student Health, WVU International Travel Clinic, and an internal locum tenens practice. Our department is home to a competitive program of 30 residents and attracts top-notch housestaff from medical schools across the country. We offer a state-of-the-art emergency ultrasound fellowship program. Our department hosts an emergency medicine services, pediatric emergency medicine, and a sports medicine section with a sports medicine fellowship. The 80+ faculty and physicians, 30 residents, two sports medicine fellows, two point of care ultrasound fellows, and 60+ advanced practice providers are engaged in a host of extramurally-funded, investigator initiated research projects. Departmental research interest include stroke, traumatic brain injury, emergency medical and pre-hospital services, event medicine, tactical medicine and disaster planning, medical education, population health, telemedicine, domestic partner violence, and point-of-care ultrasound.
