Graduate Assistant Coach- Baseball

Job Description

The Graduate Assistant will provide support and assistance to the Head Coach for a NCAA Division II baseball program. The GA receives full graduate school tuition covering a maximum of up to 9 credit hours per semester as well as a monthly stipend.

Essential Duties:
Daily practice/office responsibilities:
Daily field set up for practice as needed
Throw accurate batting practice
Data entry for baseball recruiting list
Monitor baseball’s weekly study table
Assist with player equipment check out/in
Assist with team laundry
Hold regular necessary office hours
Assist with recruiting, budgeting, and game/field preparation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, and employment is contingent on acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission).
Must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credit hours per semester in the graduate program.

Skilled with baseball equipment (i.e. the fungo)
Knowledge, and experience in coaching hitting
Knowledge and experience in coaching the catchers, infielders, or outfielders

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of University and NCAA rules and regulations; possess the requisite qualities for the profession; be able to handle a high workload in a demanding environment and be well organized; excellent interpersonal skills; be able to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and issues; and able to work independently.

Physical Demands

Sedentary Work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Additional Demands

Assist the head coach with the following: daily practices/games including following detailed daily practice plans in assigned area. Will also assist team with: team gear, field maintenance, team study table, fundraising projects, community service, scouting report development, video editing, and social media monitoring.
