Job Description

Upward Bound is a federally funded program for high school students in Prescott, AZ, and the surrounding area who are committed to preparing for a postsecondary (college) education. The Upward Bound program is designed to give participants — who attend for free — the tools, skills, and knowledge to be successful in high school and at the university level. Students enrolled in Upward Bound are four times more likely to attend college.

Requirements of Position: Provide oversight and tutoring for Embry Riddle Aeronautic University Upward Bound Program students. The position will require; ensuring students safety and security, lead student activates, and transport to and from program functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To provide tutorial assistance in mathematics, science, and communications skills.
  
  
• To serve as an aide to instructors.
  
  
• To function as an appropriate role model.
  
  
• To assist in other program related activities such as field trips, workshops, hall meetings, athletics, etc.
  
  
• To maintain availability for guidance and tutoring at all times, in addition to established tutoring hours.
  
  
• To monitor meals and nutritional requirements.
  
  
• To assist in supervising participants in residence hall, including evenings and weekend activities, and to abide by the 24/7 nature of the job.
  
  

Qualifications

• Graduate or undergraduate students in good academic standing. Prefer individuals with teaching experience at the secondary level, and who have succeeded in obtaining a post-secondary education.
  
  
• Ability to work with, and encourage, Low-Income and First-Generation participants.
