Job Summary
Assists and oversees the operations of the Auburn University Veterans Resources Center ( AUVRC ) including planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating University Veterans services and programs.
Essential Functions
Serves as a university Veterans Affairs School Certifying Official.
-Advising and instructing students and parents on financial aid issues regarding Federal Veterans Administration education benefits programs and other financial aid, scholarship, fellowship, and assistantship programs.
-Assisting in the coordination and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures for the AUVRC .
-Serving as a Veterans Service Center liaison between university faculty, staff, and stakeholders, both internal and external to the university.
-Educating and corresponding with others concerning issues related to the Veterans Administration education programs.
-Making recommendations and implementing changes/improvements to AUVRC programs.
-Conducting workshops, activities, and programs intended to educate students and their families on issues related to their transition to the university environment and programs.
-Remaining current on trends and best practices in the field of veterans programs that have the potential to impact the veteran student population at Auburn University.
-Representing the AUVRC by participating in state, regional, and national Veterans Administration training programs and conferences.

Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include a master’s degree in Counseling, Political Science, Higher Education, or related field, plus experience in higher education administration, student programming, student life, higher education financial aid processing, working with veterans, or prior military experience.
Knowledge of federal rules and regulations governing veteran’s benefits and basic student academic policies and procedures is desired.
