Position Summary

Dallas College is seeking an experienced, highly collaborative leader with a proven track record of enhancing academic quality, leadership excellence, diversity, equity and inclusion, and student success in a dynamic higher education environment. The Dean, Curriculum, Assessment and Portfolio Management
1. Provides oversight, alignment and strategic direction for curriculum management and assessment for Dallas College.
2. Leads the portfolio management team responsible for program review and strategic analysis of the College’s curricular portfolio—guiding new program recommendations, program realignments, and program closures.
3. Leads the College’s academic assessment efforts—ensuring alignment across curriculum and programs.
4. Under the guidance of the Provost and Vice Provosts, assists in communicating, framing and facilitating curricular charges that support the needs of business and industry and the social and economic mobility of Dallas College students.
5. Provides oversight for the catalog
6. Ensures system and operational efficiencies in support of the Schools of Dallas College and the Office of Workforce and Advancement.
7. Oversees a team of curriculum and assessment liaisons who engage with School Vice Provosts, Deans, and faculty to ensure that curriculum management and assessment functions are executed seamlessly and efficiently.
Additional responsibilities include assisting and advising the Provost in matters pertaining to professional and technical education, and actively engaging with community and employer partners for the purpose of creating new partnerships, responsive programs, and revenue opportunities.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College
  • Demonstrate the capacity to apply contemporary research, best and promising practices within assessment and curriculum management functional areas in liberal arts and career and technical programming.
  • Be proficient in the use of quantitative and qualitative data to drive systemic and strategic innovations to improve student learning, retention, completion, transfer and gainful employment.
  • Responds appropriately to issues in a dynamic rapidly changing educational/economic environment
  • An understanding of emerging technologies and the effective application of instructional-related technologies to enhance the College’s curricular efficiencies
  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of diversity and equity
  • Highly collaborative leader with experience in a comparably diverse and complex college/university with a proven track record of enhancing academic quality, instructional excellence, institutional diversity, equity and inclusion, and student success

Physical Requirements

Minimum Knowledge and Experience

• Master’s degree required
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible teaching, administrative and educational leadership experience
• Demonstrated successful experience in comprehensive assessment, curriculum design, pathway development or program review.
• Current and valid Texas driver’s license required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Leads the Office of Curriculum, Assessment and Portfolio Management-ensuring efficient and effective responses to curricular needs and that a unified, seamless assessment approach is taken across the Schools of Dallas College
• Works closely with the Dean of the Academic Incubator, Dean of Guided Pathways for Success, and Dean of Institutional Effectiveness to ensure seamless support of assessment and curricular innovations
• Assists with faculty training in the areas of assessment, curriculum guidance, advisory board management, and labor market analysis.
• In conjunction with the Vice Provosts, guides the effective establishment and maintenance of active, engaged, and informed business advisory boards
• Manages the curriculum operations team—ensuring consistent, accurate and efficient curriculum management processes.
• Serves as a critical design and compliance resource to faculty who are engaging in innovative curriculum design.
• While adopting an innovative curricular approach, remains current with state and federal agency requirements that may inform assessment, curricular design and development.
• Adopt and expand the use of meaningful technology solutions to enhance the assessment and curriculum management process.
• Maintain knowledge of new developments in innovative curricular approaches including competency-based education, prior learning assessment, and experiential learning.
• Serve on college task forces, committees and councils as required.
• Ability to research, collect and analyze data to make decisions.
• Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to needs of the Institute.
