Bard High School Early College Queens, a partnership of Bard College and the NYC Department of Education, invites applications for a full-time or part-time position in the mathematics department.
The successful applicant will teach four 10th grade Algebra II classes, or four 9th grade Algebra I classes. BHSEC, a national model in public school reform, enables talented and highly motivated students to graduate with an associate of arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College and a NYS Regents diploma within four years. The academic program emphasizes a commitment to teaching a diverse student body in a liberal arts environment. The compensation for teaching these four classes is based on the NYC DOE salary scale for long-term substitutes.
Qualifications
The Mathematics program at BHSEC Queens cultivates in students a deep understanding of the mathematics, the tools to choose among many possible approaches to a problem, and the language to articulate concepts and methods.
Experience teaching younger students and a commitment to scholarship are desirable.
