Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The Sport Programs Coordinator manages the administration and day-to-day operations of a comprehensive student-focused sport club and intramural sports program.This position maintains responsibilities related to program development, student staff training, budget management, risk management and assessment. The Sport Programs Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director for Structured Sports and Outreach.

Minimum Hiring Standards

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
Master’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Health and Physical Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field
At least two (2) years of experience in administering a sport club program and/or intramurals and supervising student staff
Ability to work some evenings and weekends
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a University and Academic member at VCU
Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively
Current American Red Cross First Aid/ CPR / AED certification or willingness to obtain
Demonstrated experience in personnel management and ability to motivate students
Knowledge of best practices and standards in collegiate recreation

Preferred Hiring Standards

American Red Cross First Aid/ CPR / AED Instructor certification
Membership and active participation in NIRSA
Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a constantly changing environment

Required Licenses/ Certifications Anticipated Hiring Range Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
