The School of Education is excited to invite candidates who will serve as an Education Specialist with the School of Education. The Education Specialist provides support to the following:

CDC & Center for Urban Education & Family
-Outreach to low income communities;
-Establish workshops for low-income parents, children and families;
-Coordinate Department of Social Services ( DSS ) training to become a subsidy vendor;
-Assist in recruitment, particularly of low-income families, and assisting in management of wait-list.

Community Counseling Clinic
-Assisting in the development of the community counseling clinic.

Research and Scholarship
-Collaborate with iCubed Urban Education and Family Core;
-Co-author publication with iCubed Core faculty.

Required Qualifications

-Work experience in community mental health;
- Experience working with underrepresented minority populations, historically marginalized populations, and with those living in poverty;
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
-Ability to work as part of a collaborative team;
-Competency with technology and willingness to learn data management software;
- Demonstrated experience working in fostering a diverse student,staff, and faculty environment, or commitment to do so as an employee at VCU .

Preferred Qualifications

-Prior research experience, qualitative or quantitative;
-Experience conducting literature searches and reviews, data analysis, academic publication and presentations;
-Experience with SPSS or other data management software.
