Position Summary

The Director of Information Systems and Technology will oversee the vision, management, strategy and execution of the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure of the University at Buffalo Foundation, Inc. ( UBF ).

This position will be responsible for the coordination and effective delivery of the daily IT services provided by UBF . The position will have primary responsibility for the short and long-range planning of the UBF IT on premises and cloud infrastructure to ensure it meets current and future programming and accounting requirements. The successful candidate will be an effective project and portfolio manager, able to identify and achieve efficiencies by implementing solutions and upgrades across a wide variety of applications. The Director of Information Systems and Technology will have strong collaboration skills with a customer service orientation and the ability to understand and implement the needs and wishes of the University at Buffalo as it relates to UBF information.

The Director of Information Systems and Technology reports to the Senior Director of Administration for the University at Buffalo Foundation, Inc. The position will also engage and collaborate with other senior leaders, including the Executive Director/ CEO and the Senior Director of Financial Services.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
TECHNOLOGY, PORTFOLIO AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT (50%)
• Provide overall management for the portfolio of IT projects under UBF purview, aligning priorities to strategic principles/initiatives of the Foundation and the University.
• Provide overall project management for the continued improvement and development of the AccuFund accounting software
• Coordinate appropriate and efficient data feeds to and from AccuFund and various UB software applications, including, but not limited to, InfoSource, SIRI, Advance, Concur, ShopBlue, ePFT, UB Marketplace and UBF Checkout
• Provide a broad range of database development, testing, and support in an Oracle environment, including, but not limited to, SQL and PL/ SQL
• Write and enhance suite of AccuFund core reports, including ad-hoc requests
• Develop and manage the UBF data request queue to ensure prompt and efficient response to internal and external inquiries
• Continuously analyze current processes to identify areas of improvement
• Oversee and determine timeframe for major projects, including updates, upgrades and migrations
• Evaluate and recommend continuation or replacement of UBF software and technology services in consultation with University Information Technology partners
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external UBF and IT partners
• Develop, enhance and update documentation related to current procedures
SUPERVISION AND COORDINATION (25%)
• Manage, organize and assign projects to the various staff responsible for the Information Technology operations of the University at Buffalo Foundation’s business office
o Programmer Analyst
o Application Support Analyst
• Serve as back-up support for Analysts on an as-needed basis
• Ensure appropriate management of the relationships with various UB parties, consultants and vendors, including:
o AccuFund consultants on national and local levels
o Vendor focused on maintaining legacy accounting system
o User Support services
o UB Business Reporting and Systems
o Web site consultant
INFORMATION RETENTION AND SECURITY (15%)
• Protect the confidentiality and security of data in accordance with various UB IT policies
• Implement various automated and recurring processes to ensure adherence to UBF’s record retention policy
• Develop business continuity protocols to minimize disruptions of operations in event of emergency situations or data loss
MISCELLANCENOUS RESPONSIBILITIES (10%)
• Remain up to date on emerging IT trends, technologies, software and hardware
• Develop and manage the annual IT budget, including vendors and consultants
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, ideally with concentration in management, computer science, information systems or related field.
Seven or more years of experience in an IT department.
Five or more years of experiencing managing IT projects and staff.
Proficient and demonstrated ability in use of Oracle and SQL applications.
Expertise with implementing, configuring and testing solutions and upgrades.
Thorough understanding of IT and practical applications to support UBF’s goals and constituent needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree strongly preferred. Experience in non-profit accounting or higher education environment strongly preferred.
Crystal Reports preferred.
Project Management and end user support skills preferred.
Familiarity with accounting and/or fundraising databases preferred.
