COVID Coordinator

Reporting to the Dean of Student Wellbeing, the COVID Coordinator is responsible for the day- to-day management and implementation of the University’s COVID testing protocol, data management, and coordination of COVD-related tasks. The COVID Coordinator will ensure testing objectives are met, that the highest degree of testing safety standards and professionalism are met and maintained, that testing schedules and targets are adhered to and met, and that results are received, valid, and reported on in a timely basis. The COVID Coordinator will also serve as the onsite supervisor for testing; record, analyze, and report data; as well as manage various COVID-related tasks.

Responsibilities:

ONSITE SUPERVISOR FOR POOL TESTING:

Test site preparation:

  • Set up testing site
  • Monitor student workers’ sign-up and backfill to required staffing
  • Assign testing team workers to each station
  • Routinely monitor procedures to ensure that correct ones are being followed
  • Aid in support for stations 1 and 2 when necessary to expedite traffic flow, using admin PC and barcode scanner
  • Provide registration and log-in help to those students and employees needing any additional assistance (registering for a new test)
  • Aggregate and package completed test samples during lunch and end of day
  • Ensure that the driver receives all test samples by 3:15-3:20 p.m.
  • Calculate and report final count of completed tests
  • Clear test site end of the day in preparation for evening/night cleaning by custodial support


Scheduling pool testing:

  • Update Signup Genius with next test schedule
  • Coordinate with Athletics the list of athletes that need to be tested
  • Select student to be tested based on SUNY’s selection algorithm
  • Email/text routine testing appointment reminders until testing day
  • Monitor the covidtesting@alfred.edu inbox and respond to or forward messages
  • Reschedule tests when/where necessary, recording positive results and exceptions


Data recording, analysis and reporting:

  • Process testing results from Pool, Wellness Center, Athletics and Lab
  • Process exceptions (test results variances), manage rescheduling, review and report on positive results, quarantine and isolation assignments
  • Produce daily campus testing summary emails to VP Student Affairs, Director of the Wellness Center, Dean of Student Wellbeing, and the Executive Director of Marketing/Communication
  • Update SUNY and/or AU dashboard daily
  • Perform weekly COVID database maintenance and cleanup


OVERSIGHT AND COORDINATION OF RELATED TASKS AND ACTIVITIES:

  • Delivery of mail and packages (from the mailroom) to students in isolation or quarantine
  • Pick-up and deliver over-the-counter medications and prescription medications from local pharmacy
  • Delivery of snacks, other necessities and activity items
  • Act as the point of contact for students (taking phone calls, answering family calls, troubleshooting problems with meals)
  • Coordinate laundry services, as needed, once per week
  • Coordinate, train, and schedule meal delivery drivers and their payroll
  • Solicitation of and receiving donations for students in quarantine and isolation
  • Facilitate class assignments and deliveries of academic material
  • Coordinate with AVI for meals (menu, link to order) and response to complaints
  • Coordinate student contacts (nurse, counselors, interns, etc. stop by/or contact students weekly)
  • Perform contact tracing, as needed
  • Coordinate and assign rooms for students moving into quarantine and isolation
  • Coordinate and ensure the cleaning of isolation or quarantine rooms and stocking of supplies after use
  • Order COVID-related supplies
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in a COVID test environment at a higher education institution is preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail to manage a variety of tasks, including data management, and multiple teams
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot in order to effectively and creatively resolve issues
  • Student-focused approach and ability to effectively communicate with parents and family members, when needed, to address student needs and concerns
  • A willingness to perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Willingness to work after hours and on weekends, as needed.
