Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Instructional Support Technician. Expectations include providing support for the instructional and research laboratories in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is part of the School of Sciences, which consists of 10 academic departments and 2,400 students majoring in 22 programs. Duties include but not limited to: setting up materials and equipment required to carry out experiments, providing quality control of materials, and ensuring that teaching laboratories are in good working order. This individual also assists with routine equipment maintenance, chemical and equipment inventory, and hazardous waste management.


Requirements:

Required qualifications: bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field; ability to follow chemical protocols and properly prepare laboratory materials, including solutions and minor lab equipment; ability to perform minor equipment maintenance; familiarity with basic chemical safety procedures.

Preferred: experience as an Instructional Support Technician; experience performing maintenance for commonly used chemical instruments; experience working in a professional chemical laboratory; experience using chemical inventory software; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
