Veggie Van Community Partner Coordinator

Position Summary

The Community Health Interventions Lab ( CHIL ) at the University at Buffalo is looking to hire a full-time Community Partner Coordinator to work on our Veggie Van team. The Veggie Van team works with organizations across the country to start or expand mobile produce markets. We are looking for a coordinator to manage and support the technical assistance needs of our Mobile Market Coalition member organizations, as well as other organizations interested in learning more about or starting their own mobile markets. The Community Partner Coordinator will provide project management, referrals, and or direct consultation on two key aspects of the operational inquiries we receive from the mobile market community: how to start a mobile market operation, and how to sustain, troubleshoot, and grow a currently-operating mobile market. They will provide and or coordinate and manage appropriate support and education based on the unique needs of inquiring mobile markets. The Community Partner Coordinator will also be responsible for planning the annual Mobile Market Summit, informational webinars, and developing and providing education on our Veggie Van Toolkit, a comprehensive step-by-step resource on starting and operating a mobile market. They will work closely with the newly-formed Mobile Market Coalition, and serve as the Veggie Van team’s representative in coalition activities, including development and planning. They will manage one service center student worker/research associate and provide training necessary to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the service center. The ideal candidate will have experience working with mobile markets or small food businesses.
Responsibilities:
● Provide technical assistance and guidance to mobile market partners
○ Plan and host training events (eg webinars, workshops etc)
○ Assist with development and expansion of Veggie Van Toolkit content
○ Assist with development and coordination of mobile market education curriculum

● Coordinate annual Mobile Market Summit
○ Program planning & management (help develop curriculum and schedule; interface with speakers and registrants; on-site logistic planning)
○ Coordinate pre-planning surveys and post-summit evaluation

● Coordination of national mobile market coalition
○ Host regular collaborative meetings
○ Manage collaboration/networking tools (eg Slack)

Skills:
● Outreach and networking skills
● Experience and strength in prioritizing/triaging organizational needs
● Coordinating timelines, goals, and ensuring deliverables are met
● Effective communication skills- customer service, strong written and verbal communication
● Knowledge/ experience around food security work or non-profit management
● Working with program budgets and coordinating multiple financial sources
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Outlook
○ Ability to learn new communication management apps/programs used for customer relations, scheduling, and web design, and other tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Excellent customer service skills
• Experience coordinating multiple projects or programs
• Experience working on a team
• Outreach and networking skills
• Experience and strength in prioritizing/triaging organizational needs
• Coordinating timelines, goals, and ensuring deliverables are met
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Outlook
• At least 2 years of experience in a professional setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in communications, public health, or a related field
• Knowledge/experience around working with food insecure and/or lower-income populations
• Experience working with a mobile produce market or related business
