Job Summary

The Coordinator of Special Projects – T3 Persistence Coach will be responsible for supporting the Tarrant To & Through (T3) persistence program at TCC through a combination of direct caseload management and student support, as well as assisting with overall program oversight and coordination. The position will work closely with both the T3 Partnership staff and the Tarrant County College ( TCC ) persistence team to ensure a coordinated and efficient system of supports is in place to increase the number of T3 Scholars persisting in attaining a degree or certification. The position will report directly to the identified and mutually agreed upon persons by both TCC and T3.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• T3 Program Oversight and Coordination

  • Works in collaboration with TCC and T3 staff to design, implement, and execute the program’s persistence model
  • Supports in the assigning of T3 Scholars with persistence coaches as well as ongoing oversight to ensure student to coach ratios are manageable and sustainable
  • Plays an instrumental role in ensuring the program meets student outcomes as well remaining aligned to the College’s 3 Goals and 8 Principles
  • Serves as the main point of contact between T3 and TCC regarding the persistence program
  • Plays an active role in identifying and connecting with additional community supports that can align and provide additional resources to support T3 Scholars


• Expectations of a T3 Persistence Coach

  • Responsible for promoting a positive and successful learning experience for T3 Scholars to increase T3 Scholar enrollment, retention, and completion


 Mentoring:

  • Trusted Mentor Relationship: Establishes trust with T3 Scholars
  • Assists students with goal setting and providing continuous communication and follow-up to help T3 Scholars achieve their goals. Solves problems that arise related to progress towards academic goals, persistence, and attendance
  • Provides resources for career preparation to assist students with post-graduation plans
  • Progress Monitoring: Responsible for ensuring T3 Scholars remain in good standing for T3 ( GPA, SAP, FAFSA / TASFA renewal, completing milestones that are correlated with successful completion)
  • Academic Monitoring: Works with the T3 Scholar’s academic advisor to ensure a solid academic plan and ensure continued registration
  • Track all T3 Scholars’ academic progress for each term, through communication, to ensure academic success


 Retention:

  • Proactive Outreach: Acts as both on-call support and actively sending nudges on next steps/reminders
  • Reduce Summer Melt: Begins supporting T3 Scholars at the point the scholar decides to attend the partner institution.
  • Responsible for ensuring students complete all enrollment and registration steps to remain T3 eligible
  • Systems Change Agent: Catalogues stumbling blocks T3 Scholars encounter to make recommendations for policy and process changes
  • Transfer Supports: Acts as supplemental transfer advisors to help students explore options, apply for scholarships, and meet transfer deadlines
  • Process Reinstatement Appeals: Responsible for soliciting and processing reinstatement appeals for students who do not meet T3 renewal criteria
  • Content Expert on Retention and Completion Research: Continuously building their knowledge of milestones highly correlated with student retention and completion


 Other:

  • Content experts on common challenges first-generation, under represented students face
  • Lifeline to connect students with social services


• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through TCC
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 Goals and 8 Principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Two (2) years of advising/retention experience in a college or university setting
• Two (2) years of experience with First Year or New Student programs
• Two (2) year experience with advising students around career interest inventory assessments and exploration
• One (1) year of experience supervising employees (e.g., managing and evaluating performance of others)

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Bilingual – Spanish
• Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
• Experience in working with students of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

• Experience working with computerized systems
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends
• Ability to travel to area high schools and universities
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
