Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, this position supports other administrators and department heads, helping them determine how to accomplish objectives, creating a supportive foundation for organizational success. The position provides collaborative oversight and responsibility for employee engagement matters including but not limited to, the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that improve and increase employee engagement, recognition, and wellness. This position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and on-going leadership of a new team responsible for employee onboarding, offboarding, wellness, appreciation and recognition activities.

This is a leadership position responsible for developing, interpreting, and recommending policies, procedures, and course of action for employee engagement matters according to established policies, guidelines, and sound administrative practices. Additionally, the position will help create and introduce a new engagement plan, onboard essential platforms, implement best practices, and support critical improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Requirements
• Developing and successfully implementing new employee onboarding, offboarding, wellness, appreciation and recognition activities
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality employee engagement, employee morale, and wellness programming for all employees
• Creates a supportive environment that provides access to on-going and well-coordinated activities with the goal of maintaining the highest quality of services for faculty and staff
• Serves as a lead resource on matters of employee recognition efforts such as the Chancellor’s Excellence Awards, annual wellness events, including annual immunization clinics, and collaborates with administrative leaders to develop employee appreciation activities
• Prepares notes and reports on interviews, actions taken and requests to meet management’s needs
• Identifies the need for changes in policies, procedures, and processes, taking the initiative to implement within assigned area of responsibility and inform for others

Management Consultation
• Develops and maintains advisory/consultative relationships with subject-matter experts that provide input or consultation related to departmental engagement activities
• Interprets TCCD policy and procedures for employees and leaders

General Supervision and Management
• Responsible for personnel management, evaluation, and development of assigned administrative and professional-level direct reports
• Ensures that responsibilities of applicable employees are met in the following functional areas: employee onboarding, offboarding, wellness, appreciation and recognition activities

Service Excellence
• Reviews and evaluates employee engagement practices, procedures, and protocols relating to annual employee climate or other engagement surveys, and organizational processes that affect quality; makes recommendations on refinements and other upgrades as appropriate
• Demonstrates a sensitivity and understanding to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds, and physical and learning disabilities of staff and students
• Works with management to align learning/leadership development with succession planning initiatives
• Cultivates strong rapport with customers, internal and external stakeholders
• Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive image to internal and external customers/stakeholders
• Attends the workplace regularly; reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC ) as appropriate for the role
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Performs other related tasks as required.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Human Resources, Management, Organizational Development, or related field
• Eight (8) years of progressively more responsible experience in an employee engagement role(s)
• Five (5) years of experience supervising employees (e.g., managing and evaluating performance of others)
• Experience developing and implementing a new employee engagement program successfully

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Human Resources, Management, Organizational Development, or related field
• Five (5) years of experience in an employee engagement role(s) in an institution of higher education
• Three (3) years of directly related supervisory experience in an institution of higher education (e.g., managing and evaluating performance of others)
• Experience developing and implementing a new employee engagement program in an institution of higher education

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

• Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
• Demonstrated knowledge through direct experience of learning concepts, training and development methods and techniques
• Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
• Ability to work independently, after hours and on weekends when needed
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral format
• Ability to establish collaborative relationships
• Ability to organize, analyze and prioritize work, and data of self and direct reports
• Ability to effectively present complex information to diverse groups and individuals
• Ability to travel to the different campus locations for problem resolution, meetings, trainings, etc.
