The Department of Medicine, University of Washington (UW) is recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) faculty member to join the Division of Gastroenterology based at University of Washington Medical Center. This position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor  (without tenure due to funding), commensurate with experience. This position has an annual service period of 12 months (July 1 – June 30). University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Anticipated start date will be September 1, 2021. The successful candidate will engage in basic and translational research in gut microbiology. It is expected they will participate in clinical care of gastroenterology patients, including providing inpatient consultative services and outpatient and inpatient clinic and endoscopy services. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of medical students, residents, and fellows during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, in concert with the GI Fellowship program.

This position will be expected to provide care to the level of age specific diseases and the range of disease severity, and will be expected to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed to promote improvement. This includes the ability to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed to promote improvement. 

Requirements include:

•Board Certification in Gastroenterology (or foreign equivalent)

•Medical Degree (or foreign equivalent)

•Demonstrated a track record of substantial funding from extramural sources and high quality publications in this understanding the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease

•5 years of experience providing moderate sedation for endoscopic procedures

 In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
