Residence Coordinators serve as a live in professional staff member for the Department of Residential Life. This individual is responsible for the day to day operation of a residence hall or group of residence halls including staff supervision, community development, administration, building management, and general departmental responsibilities. In addition, this individual will assume primary responsibility for the design and implementation of the student accountability process in all residential communities .

  • 35% Student Conduct: Serve as a hearing officer for campus wide cases, and assist in Incident Report and case management at the direction of the Assistant Director for Advocacy and Policy.
  • 20% Administration and Building Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all departmental paperwork and processes within the Marsh & Bayou communities. Assume primary responsibility for opening, closing, budget management, facilities management, and desk operations in their specific community. This section also includes employee’s ability to respond to crisis. 
  • 20% Supervision: Provide day to day supervision of a graduate residence director, a staff of 8 resident assistants, and desk assistants within their community through regular one on one and staff meetings.  Actively participate in staff recruitment, selection and training efforts of all staff members.
  • 20% Community Development and Leadership: Direct and assess community development initiatives in assigned area with special attention paid to community council, academic resources, and departmental assessment initiatives.  Implement departmental programming initiatives as required.
  • 5% Other Duties: Serve as a role model for students and staff; Participate actively in divisional responsibilities; Coordinate departmental projects as requested; Other duties as assigned by supervisor 
Minimum Qualifications

Masters Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or related degree. Two years experience and at least two academic semesters of residence hall staff experience at the graduate level of higher or related student affairs experience.

Special/Physical Qualifications

As with all LSU employees, Coordinators have an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral , or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee, outside of those rights contained within FERPA, should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality. In accordance with University PS 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure. Due the nature of the position, this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing per PS-67.
