Michigan Technological University is looking for a dynamic, alumni-centric professional to assist the University with its alumni-engagement mission. The Director for Alumni Engagement should thrive on meeting new people and find fulfillment by engaging with alumni from diverse backgrounds. Reaching into the northernmost tip of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is the Keweenaw peninsula, home to national parks, deep history, thousands of acres of forestland, and Michigan Tech. Recreation including University-owned golf course, ski hill, and biking and hiking trails surround this safe, mid-sized campus. 

The Director provides strategy and leadership to develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive program to provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for alumni including volunteerism, service, personal and professional development, events, and programs designed to enhance the loyalty, dedication, and support of alumni for Michigan Tech. The Director serves as an on-campus spokesperson for 82,000 living alumni and leads the effort to create and sustain strong value connections for alumni and friends across the state, country, and world. The Director develops programs to facilitate lifelong dialogue between the University and its constituents to increase alumni participation and giving. The Director will be responsible for leading alumni engagement programming on campus and in regional locations across the country. Travel will consist of visits with Michigan Tech alumni and friends, providing them with campus updates while evaluating the individuals’ ability and propensity to support the University.

The Director engages alumni and friends to actively contribute back to the University through philanthropic support, share in the life of the University and with each other, and make connections with current students to further the mission of the University. The Director develops and maintains cooperative and collaborative relationships with University units such as admissions, career services, athletics, student affairs, and academic colleges and departments.
