Chief Objective of Position
The chief responsibility of this position is the recruitment of new freshmen. In the performance of these duties, the incumbent in this position uses discretion and independent judgment to determine admission to the University by reviewing applications for admission, meeting regularly with and making presentations to prospective students, their families, and high school counselors to provide information about CNU and its programs, and to counsel them through the college search and enrollment processes.
Work Tasks
1. Independently analyzes and reviews freshman qualifications for admission to the university and merit scholarship programs, and commits the university to those decisions.
2. Routinely consults with other student service professionals to interpret university standards, policy and procedures.
3. Delivers presentations to individuals and groups who indicate an interest in the University. These programs include daily information sessions and interviews for prospective students and special groups on campus, college planning workshops at middle and secondary schools and other organizations, and other venues throughout Virginia and out-of-state.
4. Represents the University in a professional manner at designated secondary school visits and numerous college fair programs throughout Virginia and out-of-state. Coordinates individual visits with secondary school counselors and makes presentations to interested students. Advertises visits to prospective students and follows up with each student contacted at high school visits and college fairs utilizing CRM technology.
5. Represents the university as a member in the Virginia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (VACRAO) and National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC) according to national and regional principles of best practices.
6. Develops and maintains very positive and professional customer service and/or relations within the office/department and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, guests, and employees. Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude and treats everyone with dignity and respect. Fully supports the “Student’s First” value at CNU and routinely goes the extra mile in providing service.
7. Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to ensure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absences.
8. This position is designated as a “responsible employee” who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) required
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational and planning skills and academic counseling skills. Strong computer skills. Ability to travel extensively, work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend hours. Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of start date. Must be able to transport and distribute admissions information and materials for the purposes of recruiting students.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) preferred
The ability to work with software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Education
Master’s degree in a related field or a Bachelor’s degree and related experience that equates to an advanced degree.
