Head Coach of Womens Basketball/Events and Facilities Coordinator
Pratt Institute
The Athletics Department at Pratt Institute is seeking a full-time Head Coach of Women's Basketball/Events and Facilities Coordinator who will be responsible for the organization and administration of all aspects of the women's basketball program including staff supervision, teaching and implementing skills and strategy, recruiting, budget development, scheduling, implementation of NCAA, conference and institutional policy and regulations. This position also acts as the Events and Facilities Coordinator and will serve as a member of the leadership team for the operation of the ARC, the home of Pratt Athletics and Recreation, which includes facility and event oversight, maintenance, and scheduling.
The Athletics and Recreation Department is committed to providing a wide range of activities and services that assist Pratt students of various backgrounds and abilities in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Pratt Institute has an athletics history dating back to the founding of the Institution. Currently, Pratt is a member of the NCAA Division III and Coast to Coast Athletic Conference (C2C). The Department is searching for a highly motivated, student-focused men's basketball coach to assist in the growth of the department and athletic programs.
Head Women's Basketball Coach Duties:
- Direct the women's basketball program by coordinating and completing the following: recruitment and retention of student-athletes, practice sessions, practice and game scheduling, contest preparation, contest management, and administrative duties.
- Recruit and retain student-athletes that can meet Pratt's academic admissions standards and sustain or enhance the competitiveness of the program.
- Work to support the academic success of student-athletes and to monitor their academic performance.
- Keep abreast of NCAA, conference, and departmental rules and regulations and attend the required departmental meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the NCAA, conference, and Pratt Institute.
- Develop specific duties for the assistant coach that aid in the overall success of the program, ensure that they adhere to their established performance program, and evaluate their performance at the conclusion of the season or year.
- Maintain equipment throughout the year and inventory equipment at the end of the season.
- Maintain applicable health and safety certifications (i.e. CPR, AED, first aid).
Events and Facilities Coordinator Duties:
- Ensures a high-quality experience at the ARC through day-to-day operations, internal and external events, game-day operations, equipment upkeep and maintenance, and customer service.
- Properly and adequately assess the ARC's needs for improvement in relation to the Pratt Community and Student-body.
- Responsible for purchasing, maintaining, and inventory of all varsity team equipment including uniforms, game, and practice balls, etc.
- Serve as an internal acting liaison for facility maintenance, upkeep, and improvement with Campus Facility Department - includes custodial services, campus grounds, and Campus Public Safety.
- Maintain all records of purchases and maintenance of equipment and coordinate routine repair of operating and competitive equipment within the facility.
- Manage fleet of Department-owned transportation vans (i.e., repairs, inspections, etc.).
- Serves as direct supervisor that helps with hiring, training, evaluating, and professional development of student-employees, student-leaders, and part-time employees in various areas of operations and in use of operating various equipment.
- Create and implement new models of protocols, strategies, policies, and practices for customer service, efficient athletic experiences, and overall work environment.
- Assist in emergency management and protocol for Athletics and Recreation.
- Provide onsite event supervision and serves as a direct contact for external events.
- Maintain Needed Safety Certifications (AED, First Aid, etc.)
