Coordinator - (North Valley) - Community Education

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Under the direction of the Community Education Director, organizes and coordinates community education programs, primarily for North Utah Valley based on community needs and market feasibility research. This position also oversees instructor management and curriculum development for all North Utah Valley Community Education programs, while providing leadership to program specialist(s) and facilitators. Course may be offered in multiple modalities including online, face to face and hybrid programs. Working with technology tools the coordinator creates, tracks, and reports on the outcomes of all their courses.
The coordinator contributes as well to department annual strategic planning, revenue generation, and continuous improvement discussions.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Education, Adminstration, Business/Marketing, or a a closely related field; OR an associate’s degree as described above and three years of experience related to the summary of duties; OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling 5 years.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Initiates, develops, and schedules new courses, in a large variety of subjects, based on research to meet the needs and interest of the community and create profitable programs. Negotiates with off-site facilities for access to resources as needed.
2. Develops program budgets, fee schedule, instructor wages, and reconciling of budgets to ensure profit/loss margins, and prepares necessary financial and enrollment reports. Utilizing registration and course learning management system, ensures digital materials, marketing descriptions and all necessary information is captured to ensure successful advertisement and execution of the course.
3. Seeks, vets and hires qualified instructors while maintaining pool of potential personnel. Manages onboarding, updates, course/schedule changes, and other information to instructors as needed. Ensures timely payments and reimbursements to instructors through collaboration with financial office.
4. Supervises program specialist(s) and facilitators and continuosly evaluates and provides feedback to appropriate personnel about existing programs to ensure they continue to meet the needs and interest of the community. Supports customer service activities as needed.
5. Perform other job related duties as assigned
-Knowledge of continuing education, professional development, certification, and community education programs, policies, and procedures.
-Knowledge of general business practices, management, office productivity software,
including Microsoft office and Salesforce
-Knowledge in program development and delivery
-Knowledge of customer service practices
-Knowledge and ability in project management, budgeting and program evaluation

-Ability to foster professional and working relationships with students, teachers, community leaders, donors, and office support staff as well as groups with competing interests.
-Ability and experience in managing program budgets, revenue generation activities and tracking financial outcomes of programs
-Ability to communicate effectively, oral and written, with a diverse group of individuals.
-Ability to engage effectively with the public, instructors, and staff and to project a positive image for the University.
-Ability to be self-directed and proactive when accomplishing assignments
-Ability to manage sensitive information in a discrete and confidential manner
