Job Details
The Coordinator of Entrepreneurship, Visibility and Professionalization will be responsible for increasing art student professionalization and enhanced program visibility across all areas of the art department, including the BFA in Studio Art, BA in Art, BA in Art Education and the BFA in Biomedical Art and Visualization. The Coordinator will create professional opportunities for students including internships and other career-related experiences. The CEVP will be committed to providing university and external outreach that promotes diversity, inclusion and/or social justice causes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Entrepreneurship
- Create partnerships and professional opportunities for students
with other departments across the university and professional
organizations and businesses in the area, including the creation of
potential student “residency” opportunities
- Work in conjunction with others in the Edelman College of
Communication & Creative Arts to recruit arts employers for
student career fair events
- Conduct student workshops on career-related topics including
networking, interviewing, online presence, etc. through
collaboration with faculty who are teaching professional practices
and senior capstone courses
- Coordinate the creation and collection/documentation of current
student and alumni work for sale/loan via an online
"marketplace"
- Work with others to provide student art for the President’s
Student Art Showcases in Bole Hall and the President’s home
Visibility
- Work with faculty/staff/students to coordinate publicity
materials for student exhibitions, events, student experiences,
arts/visiting artist programing, etc. for print, web and social
media
- Work with faculty/staff and student groups to create a
centralized calendar of events for department website
- Create and maintain student alumni tracking and outreach
- Work in conjunction with faculty in photography to coordinate
annual juried photography exhibition
Professionalization
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, academic departments/units and
internship sites to identify and promote internships for
students
- Create and maintain a database of student
opportunities/resources for students including internships,
residencies, fellowships, funding, exhibition and career
preparedness, etc.
- Execute strategies to promote internships and other
professional opportunities to students through informational
sessions and class visits
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or terminal degree preferred
Relevant Experience:
- One (1) year of professional experience required.
- Demonstrated knowledge about the working world of artists,
designers, arts educators and scholars, their required/recommended
career preparation, and potential paths to achieve professional
goals.
- Already existing strong network of arts contacts within the
region.
- Ability to conceptualize and execute complex student-focused
initiatives.
- Demonstrable commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion
and/or social justice causes .
- Ability to present and advise on a wide range of career-related
topics.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with students,
faculty, employers, and alumni.
- Three years’ demonstrated experience in a professional work
setting working with students, career services, or arts
administration is preferred.
Skills:
- Entrepreneurial, collaborative style, with excellent human
relations skills
- Demonstrated facility with computer-based systems and online
platforms, and comfort with adoption of new digital processes
- Demonstrated organizational abilities and exceptional written
and verbal communication/public speaking skills
- Ability to start, manage, and complete projects independently
from inception to completion with full accountability for
deadlines, quality, and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize and balance a number of projects
simultaneously while maintaining a high quality of work in a
fast-paced environment
