The Search

 

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) seeks a visionary, experienced, and transformational leader to serve as its inaugural Director of Diversity Strategy. The Director of Diversity Strategy will be situated within GTRI and will report to the Georgia Tech (GT) Senior Vice President for Research, who is also the GTRI Director. In addition, they will serve on the advisory staff to GT’s Vice President for Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (IDEI) and Chief Diversity Officer. This position will also sit on the GTRI executive council, the executive leadership team comprised of the GTRI Director’s direct reports.

 

Founded in 1934, Georgia Tech Research Institute is the applied nonprofit research arm of Georgia Tech. GTRI develops advanced technology solutions and large-scale system prototypes to address the most difficult problems in national security, economic development, and the overall human condition. GTRI has grown to more than 2,600 employees supporting eight laboratories in over 20 locations around the country and annually performs more than $642 million in executed sponsored awards for problem-solving research for government and industry.

 

The Director of Diversity Strategy will lead GTRI’s diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging efforts and create an institutional culture of belonging during a time of immense institutional growth and change. The Director of Diversity Strategy will build upon existing employee-led efforts around DEI, including Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and will develop and implement a comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategy which aligns with existing GTRI and GT strategic plans. 

 

The Director of Diversity Strategy will expand and deepen GTRI’s DEI educational portfolio and support key GT training and professional development efforts. The Director of Diversity Strategy will leverage data to support the retention and career progression of all faculty and staff, but particularly those of color, by creating strong mentoring and sponsorship programs. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of diversity, equity, and inclusion assessment, implementation, evaluation, and organizational change management experience, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.
