Job Description:

Kansas City University Department of Biomedical Ethics has an opening for an Assistant Professor of Bioethics. KCU offers a Master of Arts in Bioethics in a dual degree track: a DO/MA dual degree earned over four years. In addition, the DO degree which is offered at both our campuses, contains courses in biomedical ethics spread over the first three of the four year medical degree. In a rich and varied curriculum, the KCU Department of Biomedical Ethics approaches the study of bioethics broadly by drawing on the perspectives of philosophy, the medical humanities, and social sciences. Our two campuses are located in Kansas City, MO and Joplin, MO.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a relevant terminal degree such as PhD, DMin, JD, EdD, DrBE or equivalent. A clinical degree (DO, MD, DNP, RN, etc.) and experience would be a plus. A minimum of two years post-doctoral experience teaching at the graduate level is required in areas such as history and philosophy of medicine, clinical or research ethics, and medical humanities. Research, publications, and grant-writing experience are highly valued.

Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with graduate and medical students, faculty, and staff. The candidate must be highly collegial and able to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment. He or she will have communication competencies, both written and oral, with excellent teaching evaluations.
