Position Overview:

Coordinates and execute specific activities, programs, and services for student organizations, student leadership programs and other campus activities. Provide information and resources for students, parents, and University staff related to campus programming. Participate in program development and make recommendations. Prepare and review expenditures related to department and fee-funded group budgets. Promote safety and compliance in activities.

  • Oversees and provides support and advisement for the Student Programming Board who provides traditional campus programming through daytime and evening events such as DIY, novelty items, concerts, Glamazon (drag show), hypnotist/magicians, etc.
    • Works closely with the executive board and general membership on the execution of events and activities.
    • Provides leadership development and teaches event planning/logistics.
    • Supports other campus activities groups/boards for implementation of large campus programming.
    • Works with vendors to obtain, review, and implement contract and riders.
  • Serves as the campus Student Organization Coordinator and works as the liaison between all campus student organizations and the Student Engagement Office.
    • Responsible for the registration, coordination, record keeping, programming and support of and for student organizations.
    • Provide trainings and development for all registered and new student organizations on campus, which includes registration/event management, code of conduct policies, UCORE, leadership development, etc.
    • Programs campus-wide student involvement fairs to showcase student organizations and campus departments
    • Works collaboratively with Student Engagement, Risk Management, Events Management, SAF Budget Office, and other departments to provide resources to organization leaders as needed.
  • Serves as the CampusGroups Campus Administrator by managing UCORE, a web-based campus engagement platform
    • Responsible for the system up-keep and management through consistent communication with the company and campus partners
    • Facilitates training opportunities for organizations leaders and campus partners on system functions and updates
    • Coordinates campus-wide event management and approval system with departments involved in event approvals
  • Conducts on-going research to further university initiatives, and creates/updates policies and materials to assist the Student Programming Board and other office programs
  • Support the programs and activities of the Student Engagement Office and the Student Engagement team.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Some evenings and weekends required

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:

Requires a bachelor's degree in field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in the chosen field or 7+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.

Qualifications Preferred:

Experience in student affairs specifically relating programming and student organizations. Master's degree in college student personnel/higher education preferred. The successful candidate will be highly organized, have the ability to multi-task while providing fantastic, face to face customer service, thrives in a detail oriented position, and is comfortable speaking in public and leading trainings. Previous event & programming experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

The qualified candidate will have good supervisory skills, student/event advising skills, conflict management skills, and organizational/time management skills. They will have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, human relations, public relations and organizational skills. The candidate will be able to work as well independently as in a group, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and interact professionally with all segments of the University community. Must be detail oriented and a team player. Computer proficiency preferably in Microsoft Office. Experience with CampusGroups or another online organization platform. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
