About the Position:
The College of Business and Economics (CBE) is committed to the guiding themes of program quality, balancing theory and practice and expanding our outreach and visibility. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Department Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator II). The Department of Economics Coordinator serves as the Administrative Support Coordinator II and staff lead for the Department of Economics. Under the direction of the Department Chair, this position currently provides support for full and part-time faculty, the Department Chair, Vice-Chair and Center Directors. These include time sheet and hiring related paperwork for the student assistants of the Centers and coordinating with the Foundation and initiating special pay requests. This position oversees the work and training of administrative support assistants and student office workers. Coordinates office workflow and serves as a resource to department faculty, staff, students and visitors regarding campus policies and procedures. Provides budget support by monitoring and reconciling multiple budget accounts, processing requisitions, and compiling budget reports. Under direction, maintains the class schedules. Prepares part-time faculty appointments, tracks entitlements, and faculty term workloads. Monitors class enrollments, accesses student information for advisors, and runs reports and queries. Serves as timekeeper, tracks attendance, and prepares all monthly attendance reports. Hires, trains and processes office student workers. Serves as Department Information Technology Coordinator (DITC). Provides direction to and supports the Administrative Support Assistants with duties such as the Student Opinion Questionnaire process and textbook orders. Takes meeting notes or minutes of department meetings as necessary. Provides administrative support for faculty recruitment, faculty review processes, and maintains department files. Assists with the coordination of various university and department reports. Coordinates and publicizes special events and forums such as, but not limited to, the department fall and spring mixers/galas and award ceremonies. Under direct supervision, provides administrative support for department projects. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
High School diploma or the equivalent and five years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to independently interpret and apply policies and procedures and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist. Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area. Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas. Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions. Ability to perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference. Ability to effectively write and present own reports. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels including highly sensitive interpersonal situations. Ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
