Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Performs main mowing on campus and participates in mechanical repairs to riding lawn mowers and other equipment assigned. Cultivate, aerate, and fertilize lawns across campus using heavy machinery. Operates grounds keeping equipment such as riding lawn mowers, power edger's, power mowers and other related equipment as assigned. Helps maintain accurate record keeping of inventory and supplies. Responsible for snow removal preparations and snow removal inventory and supplies.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a associates degree and two years
experience related to the Summary of Duties Or any combination of education and
experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling four years.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape gardening including mowing,
  planting, transplanting and other landscape care.
• Knowledge of grade fertilizers and their application.
• Knowledge of the mechanical operations and methods of repairing equipment.
• Knowledge of proper and safe use of heavy equipment and machinery.
• Skills in mowing large areas of campus on various terrains.
• Skills in working in a maintenance mechanic shop and following a maintenance plan for
  assigned equipment.
• Skills in working with others in teams and on group assigned projects.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to expend arduous physical effort and to work in conditions that may involve some
  hazards and considerable discomforts.
• Ability to operate light trucks, tractors, mowers, and stationary equipment.
• Ability to supervise part-time employees.
• Ability to maintain accurate and accessible records.
• Ability to maintain buildings and grounds with minimum supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:


Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to perform manual work such as but not limited to: climbing, twisting, lifting,standing,walking,reaching,sitting,talking,hearing,seeing,lifting,raising objects etc.
Lifting up to 25 pounds. Very active physical movement and ability. Standing and walking for long periods of time.
