The English Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in rhetoric and composition, literature, creative writing, and technical communication, and houses the university’s University Writing Program and ESOL program. Position Summary
The English Department of Bowling Green State University seeks a fiction writer to serve as the College of Arts & Sciences Distinguished Visiting Writer.
Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be on faculty Fall 2021 and Spring 2022; teach one techniques class in our graduate certificate program and two workshops in our MFA program; give a public reading and a lecture; and advise theses.
Minimum Qualifications
- MA, MFA, or Ph.D. in Creative Writing by time of employment.
- At least one novel or collection of short stories published by a commercial publisher (including small press) or university press.
- Documented critical recognition consistent with a writer of national reputation (e.g., positive written reviews, awards, invited readings, scholar-in-residences).
- Documented record of quality undergraduate and graduate teaching, (e.g., positive teaching evaluations).
- Documented contributions to diversity (e.g., course reading lists, citation practices, professional development in the area of diversity in teaching and/or creative work).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience advising creative writing theses at graduate level.
