The Department of World Languages, Literatures, & Cultures
is accepting applications for a full-time instructor of French,
with a preference for proficiency to teach French and another
language (Spanish, Italian, and German). The teaching load is 4
courses per semester, at the elementary and intermediate levels.
Duties include course preparation, providing timely feedback and
grades, meeting with students during office hours, and
communicating with students outside of class through Blackboard,
e-mail, and/or telephone and contributing actively to the life of
the French section (recruitment, retention, conversation table,
etc.) Area of specialization is open. The successful
candidate will be expected to teach primarily beginning and
intermediate language courses.
We are particularly interested in candidates well versed in current
pedagogies and those who take an innovative approach to teaching
French language at the introductory and intermediate levels.
Experience and interest in program development and retention are
desirable qualifications.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's degree in French, Second Language Acquisition or related field, and near-native fluency in English and French.
Experience/Training:
- Previous teaching experience is required, preferably at the college level.
- Proficiency in using educational technology in and out of the classroom
- Commitment to student-centered teaching using a Communicative approach
- Evidence of successful teaching.
