The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) seeks an experienced and collaborative financial leader for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance (AVCF). Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, the AVCF will play a critical role in the strategic and operational functioning of the institution, with direct responsibility for all financial matters pertaining to the institution and providing for the financial integrity of UNCG. The AVCF supports and enables the strategic planning and policy process with integral financial expertise, acting as a trusted partner and advisor to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, and providing leadership across the University as a trusted source of counsel on all matters budgetary and financial.

 

The AVCF will lead the Finance Division, housed within Finance and Administration and responsible for the management of the fiscal assets of the University and providing financial services to the campus community. This includes the development and supervision of financial systems, processes, controls, and fiscal management to ensure accurate and efficient service. The Finance Division includes: Accounting Services; Financial Planning and Budgets; Bursar Operations; Purchasing; and Contracts and Grants. UNCG’s FY2020 operating expenses totaled $456 million, and the University has an endowment of approximately $314 million.

 

In overseeing such critical functions, the AVCF will promote a spirit of service and entrepreneurship within the finance team. This individual will ensure accurate and timely communication with unit leaders and budget directors across campus and be a source of strategic counsel to enable effective, data driven decision making across the University. The AVCF will be an exceptional communicator, dedicated to the building of strong teams, transparent in decision making, and possessing a deep appreciation for the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong technical knowledge and skills along with a familiarity with higher education and public sector budgeting.

 

A graduate degree, MBA preferred, MPA or Master’s in Finance considered, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (BS or BA with a business or managerial major and five years of relevant experience) is required.  A Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant is also preferred; and 10 years of experience in increasingly progressive managerial and leadership positions in a complex environment to include higher ed, public or private, state or federal government, non-profits or corporate experience coupled with above required.
