Job Summary

 

The Director, Recognition of Learning provides leadership in developing strategies and initiatives to increase recognition of learning, including prior learning assessment (PLA), competency-based education, and coordination of documenting learning through co-curricular and continuing education transcripts.

 

Duties include:

  • Provides leadership in development and implementation of strategies and initiatives to increase recognition learning.
  • Serves as the Chair of the PLA advisory group to develop recommendations for policy, procedures, and processes.
  • In consultation with Academic Planning & Accountability and Enrollment Management Services, provides leadership to programs to develop Prior learning Assessment (PLA).
  • Evaluates and assesses program outcomes/metrics and provides recommendations for strategies for improvement.
  • Works closely with the Assistant Vice President in formulating and developing PLA procedures, processes, and policies.
  • Develops train the trainer model for recruiters, bridge advisors, academic advisors, and appropriate staff.
  • Identifies opportunities for translation of credit related to continuing education, micro- credentialing, and industry certifications.
  • Works with the Assistant Vice President to develop overall strategy as related to academic innovation.
  • Identifies in demand competencies and facilitates development of applicable learning experiences with appropriate offices.
  • Oversees the documentation of learner competencies via continuing education and curricular transcripts.
  • Supervises staff and graduate students/student employees as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience.

 

Departmental Requirements

  • Curriculum design experience.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree.
  • Knowledge of competency-based education.
  • Knowledge of prior learning assessment.
  • Experience in Higher Education.

Starting at $80,000, salary commensurate with education and experience.
