Job Details

The Health and Wellness Center at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Director. Expectations for this eleven-month position include managing the daily operations of the SUNY Oneonta Health Center and developing policies, procedures and recommendations to enhance best practices. The incumbent ensures compliance with federal, state, local, college and professional standards, regulations, procedures, laws and practices.

 

SUNY Oneonta is a public college in Central New York, enrolling about 6,500 students in bachelor’s, master’s and graduate certificate programs. Most of SUNY Oneonta’s main campus lies within the City of Oneonta, which is located in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about a four-hour drive from New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. With a population just shy of 14,000, the City of Oneonta is the largest municipality in a rural region dominated by agriculture and tourism.

Duties include but not limited to: administering the day-to-day operations of the Health Center that includes overseeing budget, staff resources, electronic medical records system, medication dispensary, medical supplies, and quality improvement program; providing medical care and preventive services to students of the College; ensuring Health Center compliance with OSHA, federal and New York State laws, standards and other regulatory requirements and maintaining the highest technical, legal and ethical standards of care; advancing the reputation of the Health Center with regard to providing a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for students of diverse identities. This position requires at least 50%-time clinical responsibilities.

 

The Director promotes collaboration with other campus offices, including Counseling Center, Athletics, New Student Services, Residential Life, International Education Office and Admissions. The Director represents the Health Center to students, parents and other stakeholders in the College and local community and reports to the Vice President of Student Development.

 

Required qualifications:

  • master’s degree in nursing in family health or adult health, applicable national board certification such as ANCC/AANP -OR- a bachelor's degree from an accredited PA program, applicable national board certification from NCCPA;
  • five years' clinical experience;
  • current BLS issued by the American Heart Association and an Infection Control Certificate;
  • Registered Professional Nurse license and current Nurse Practitioner certification -OR- current Physician Assistant license - must be transferable to New York State.

 

Preferred:

  • master’s degree;
  • experience working in a college health center and/or family practice;
  • two years’ administrative experience;
  • seven or more years’ clinical experience;
  • experience using an electronic health records management system;
  • experience working with psychiatric disorders;
  • experience working with and serving diverse populations.
